CCW Initial 16-Hour Training Course The Gardena Police Department CCW Initial 16-Hour Training Course is a comprehensive program designed to meet the training requirements for individuals applying for a California Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit through the Gardena Police Department. This course provides in-depth instruction on firearm safety, legal responsibilities, defensive handgun use, and responsible concealed carry practices. Training is delivered through a combination of classroom instruction and live-fire range qualification, in accordance with California Penal Code Section 26165 and Gardena PD CCW policy. Students will receive detailed education on: • Firearm safety and safe handling • California and federal firearm and self-defense laws • Use of force and legal considerations • Situational awareness and conflict avoidance • Concealed carry best practices • Defensive handgun fundamentals • Safe storage and transportation • Practical shooting skills and qualification with each listed firearm The live-fire portion includes qualification with each handgun listed on the CCW permit application, emphasizing accuracy, safe gun handling, and command compliance. This course is intended for initial CCW applicants and must be successfully completed prior to permit issuance.
